Mochikoro is a binary-determination logic puzzle, produced by Nikoli. Rules Mochikoro is played on a rectangular grid, in which numbers appear in some of the cells. The object is to darken cells to create rooms containing the numbers. Each room must contain the same number of unshaded cells as the number denoted in the room. 2x2 areas of shaded cells are not permitted. Rooms can contain a maximum of one number, but some rooms may exist without numbers. All rooms must be of rectangular or square shape. Rooms may not touch orthogonally, but must touch at least one other room diagonally, in such a way that all rooms form a continuous network, connected diagonally. Solution methods Because of its similarities to Nurikabe, Mochikoro uses many of the same solution methods. However, unlike Nurikabe, shaded cells need not form a single continuous group.
