Miss Nepal 2002

Dabur Vatika Miss Nepal 2002 was crowned to Malvika Subba, a student of arts studying in Bachelors.

Malvika, 22, who stood first among sixteen contestants answered to the question "suppose, if you have divine power for the moment, what would you do for Nepal and the world." The question was asked by Tribhuwan University Vice Chancellor Naveen Prakash Jung Shah to five finalists in the final round. Five contestants who reached the final were Malvika Subba, Aparna Shah, Lhamo Yangchen Sherpa, Pinky Shah and Suchitra Acharya.

The remaining answer of the question she replied was "I would awaken the spirit of nationality in every Nepalese and make them realize that united we stand, divided we fall. Until and unless every Nepalese don't realize that the country is in crisis, nothing can be done."

Malivika, born in Bansbari, Kathmandu, expressed happiness for being declared as the winner of prestigious award Dabur Vatika Miss Nepal 2002. "I want to create awareness against the dreadful disease HIV/AIDS and will not accept offers in films. Miss Nepal was my dream from my early school day," Malvika said to the reporters in International convention Hall, the venue of the beauty pageant. She is 5'2" tall with 51 kg weight.

Malvika also bagged other important titles such as Miss Talent, Miss Personality and Miss Best Hair. Usha Khadgi, winner of Miss Nepal 2000, crowned her successor Malvika the crown of Miss Nepal 2002. She was also given Rs.50,000 cash prizes.

Malvika, who wants to be a famous media personality in future, has various hobbies like dancing, listening music and playing volleyballs. Nine members' judges' panel also selected Lhamo Yangchen Sherpa and Pinky Shah as second and first runner up of the contests respectively. They were awarded with cash prizes bagging Rs.15,000 and Rs.25,000 respectively. Pinky Shah also bagged the Colgate best photogenic award while Sagun Sharma and Prabha Kadariya were awarded best smile and best dress awards.

The programme was organised in three roundups. Ten and five contestants were selected in first and second roundups. The final titles were announced in the third and the final round. The beauty contest was organised in joint collaboration by Hidden Treasure, Kathmandu Jaycees and Dabur Batika. And, it was choreographed by Rachana Gurung, Sharma.
