Mirror, Mirror (Stevie Nicks album)
|
Mirror, Mirror - The unreleased album Mirror, Mirror is an alleged unreleased studio album said to of been recorded in the early to mid 80's by American singer-songwriter and Fleetwood Mac vocalist Stevie Nicks. For a number of years, Mirror, Mirror has caused some controversy between Stevie Nicks fans in regards to its legitimacy. Mirror, Mirror stems from an apocryphal story that arose from a statement that Stevie Nicks made in the late 1980's in regards to where the title of her fourth solo album The Other Side Of The Mirror came from: “The Other Side Of The Mirror came from… well, first it was going to be Mirror, Mirror; that was going to be the name of Rock A Little. And then, because the song ‘Mirror, Mirror’ didn’t end up going on the record because I didn’t like the way it came out, I changed it to Rock A Little because ‘Rock A Little’ became the lead song. So, this record sort of was a little bit of an extension of Mirror, Mirror." Although Stevie briefly considered naming her third album Mirror, Mirror, it is evident that she did not scrap an entire album of songs and start all over as Rock A Little. Stevie mentioned Rock A Little as the title of her third album in 1982 before her second album The Wild Heart was completed. The notion of the "unreleased" Mirror, Mirror album is a fan-made falsehood and has confused many fans. It is important to keep in mind that throughout 1984 and 1985 all media sources reporting on Stevie's then upcoming album referred to it as Rock A Little, there was never any mention of Mirror, Mirror. It is worth noting that there is no official or no non-fan-made concept album art or track-listing available for Mirror, Mirror nor is there any information widely available online or in any interviews that Stevie Nicks has conducted since 1985. Mirror, Mirror - the song In November 1984, “Mirror, Mirror” was chosen to be the first single released from Rock A Little, however Stevie was not happy with the outcome of the song and "Talk To Me" was instead released as the first single from Rock A Little. Mirror, Mirror would see an official release in July 1994 as the b-side of the US Cassette Single of “Blue Denim”. Stevie had wanted the final 1992 version of the song produced by Chris Lord-Alge as the b-side, but someone at Atlantic grabbed the wrong Master Tape and that is how a 1984 Rock A Little version of “Mirror, Mirror” ended up as the b-side of a 1994 Street Angel single. Mirror, Mirror Keith Olsen produced the Rock A Little versions of “Mirror, Mirror” (Chris Lord-Alge would produce the 1992 version recorded for Street Angel). Rock A Little - sessions Sessions for Rock A Little began in late 1984 and songs such as "Mirror, Mirror", "Running Through the Garden", "Battle Of The Dragon" a moody and intricate contemplation of stormy relationships, "Reconsider Me" a duet with Eagles drummer and former lover Don Henley, "One More Big Time Rock And Roll Star" a rock ballad relegated to the B-side of the "Talk to Me" single and many other demos were recorded.
