Gaze-Based Eye Tracking
By eliminating the use of electrodes or head-mounted attachments, Gaze-Based eye tracking allows free head motion and a more natural environment for eye gaze testing.
This approach also reduces equipment costs, increases portability and makes eye tracking technology more accessible for use in consumer applications.
History
Mirametrix was founded in 2008 by Dr. Craig Hennessey, an Adjunct Professor in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at the University of British Columbia. Hennessey reportedly started the company based on his own need for a high quality, easy-to-use eye tracker for use in his research.
In February of 2011, Mirametrix was acquired by Tandemlaunch Technologies, a Montreal-based technology transfer company, for an undisclosed sum.
Company Technology
Mirametrix produces Eye Tracking systems based upon visual gaze-based analysis. The company’s technology uses a single eye-tracking camera and software to calculate gaze in 3D space and is used by academic and consumer researchers.
Mirametrix also develops a long range consumer eye tracking version, which can be licensed for a variety of Living-room applications such as Smart TVs, Gaming consoles, Personal Computers, and personal devices such as Tablet computers and Smart Phones.
