MiniFrame

MiniFrame is a desktop virtualization company that develops software to create Windows-based virtual desktops that enable multiple users to simultaneously share one computer. The company’s approach is based on software-only technology that enables creation of multiple desktops by using standard, non-proprietary, off-the shelf-devices.
MiniFrame, based in Netanya, Israel is a privately held for-profit company.
History
MiniFrame was founded in 2003.
The first SoftXpand product was released in 2007. Internationally, SoftXpand was introduced in 2008 and is sold by resellers around the world. Raz Rafaeli, former Vice President of Business of Saifun Semiconductors, joined MiniFrame in August 2009 to lead the company.
Products
SoftXpand, MiniFrame’s desktop virtualization software solution, expands the abilities of the source operating system (Windows OS) by creating multiple virtual desktops. Each such desktop requires installation of dedicated input/output devices such as additional video card(s) or VGA/DVI over USB devices, keyboards, mice, USB hubs, and USB sound devices. SoftXpand allows multiple users to log on to independent workstations using their regular Windows/Domain user names and passwords and work simultaneously.
SoftXpand software is a non-proprietary desktop virtualization solution. Any standard, off-the-shelf devices can be used to connect the additional workstations.
SoftXpand is a green and low cost alternative to stand-alone computer.
The company offers two product lines, the SoftXpand Xpress for organizations, and the SoftXpand Home for the consumer market.
SoftXpand Xpress
SoftXpand Xpress turns a single computer into up to eight independent workstations., such as USB monitor or USB docking station. SoftXpand virtual desktops can be also connected over the network using USB over Ethernet devices.

SoftXpand Xpress is a preferred solution for various vertical markets, including education, call centers, banks, financial, and government organizations.
SoftXpand Home
SoftXpand Home allows two users to simultaneously share one PC. Most today’s computers have two video outputs (VGA and DVI) to which the additional monitor is connected.

SoftXpand Home is a consumer product that was released in June 2010. Free 2 weeks trial and online purchase is available from MiniFrame website.
