VESK

VESK virtual desktop is a platform that provides desktop virtualisation to users from the datacentre via the Internet. The product is designed for business end users.
Product Versions
VESK virtual desktop delivers Microsoft Windows server operating systems to users over the Internet. The virtual desktop overlays the standard local desktop.
VESK virtual applications deliver any Terminal Server acknowledged application to users over the Internet. The application is projected to the end user from the datacentre, all processing is carried out in the datacentre instead of the local users computer. The benefits of virtualization are numerous.
VESK uses XenApp, XenDesktop and XenServer by Citrix to stream and share resources, software and hardware over a secure data connection. This reduces the need and cost implications of upgrading existing hardware, purchasing software and power consumption, due to being streamed from a remote server.
By using any internet connection virtual desktops can be acessed from anywhere in the world. They give the same response as a local desktop and have the added convienience that if a computer dies during use that no data is lost.
Technology
VESK uses a proprietary remote desktop protocol that is transmitted via SSL. After the SSL session is created, the VESK end user connects to either a VDI dedicated virtual desktop or a company-wide group published desktop. The hosted virtual desktops have been optimised to reduce lag on slow networks.
Users access virtual desktops using a web interface and, optionally, the VESK desktop shortcut. Through the web interface administrators can configure security policies and user settings.
Datacentre
As with most Virtual Desktop suppliers, VESK uses highly secure datacentres (as used by all major banks) to store users data. This is the chosen method because it ensures all stored data is completely protected and users desktops and data are available 24/7, 365 days a year. In the event of hardware failures, there are multiple sites to take over and still supply users data and desktops. These sites take over almost instantly ensuring at least 99% uptime.
Company history
VESK Ltd is owned by Appiam Ltd, a London based IT support company with other offices in Scotland and Los Angeles, USA.
