Mind-based learning

Mind-Based Learning (MBL) is a learner-centered instructional strategy and is based on the assumption of the existence of the mind in every individual human being.
Characteristics of MBL are:
* The mind knows and learns through its consciousness.
* The mind has a function called concentration which is fundamental to learning.
* The mind has another function called perception which recognises and interprets sense objects through one's prior knowledge and experience.
* MBL recognises an individual human has 6 senses, instead of 5. The mind itself is a sense organ (although not physical) which perceives mental objects e.g. thoughts, just like an eye which perceives a visual object.
* There are negative states (impediments) in the mind which obstruct learning.
* These negative mind states can be systematically reduced and overcomed to enhance learning.
* There are also positive states in the mind which promote learning.
* These positive mind states can be systematically aroused and stenghtened to enhance learning.
* A very important feature of this MBL is that learning can be very relaxing, towards stresslessness, when practised rightly.
