Mimi Stuart, a notable American painter, is known for her vibrant colors and her signature style EOS that focuses on the Energy Of the Subject rather than its details. Several public museums have selected her work for their permanent collections, including the Air & Space Museum in San Diego, CA and the Smithsonian National Air & Space Museum in Washington, DC. Her art can be recognized by its clear design and graceful lines in spite of its wide range — from Musical Gems to celebrity portraits, from outer space to the golfer’s first tee, from abstract designs to land- and waterscapes. Life, education and work Born in Santa Monica, CA in 1959, Mimi obtained a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Berkeley and trained at the Art Center in Pasadena. Earlier schooling in Germany and Spain, and travel in tropical countries imbued her with a sense for vibrant colors. Her first employ was in drawing cartoon animations and illustrating books. In 1979 she made her first pen and ink Legends-of-our-Time portrait, now known as her Wall of Legends: over 200 portraits of persons that significantly contributed to our time, ranging from US presidents to Olympic champions, from celebrities like Bob Hope, Julia Child and Placido Domingo to authors and astronauts. All portraits are signed by the Legend portrayed. Since 1999, she and her husband Charles with their two children have settled in Westchester County, NY where she is bringing canvas to life. She has created a series of Einstein portraits, aeronautical paintings, musical gems, golfers and athletes, landscapes, and abstract paintings http://mimiart.com/eos.html Book covers and illustrations • One A Day Reason to be Happy by Mrs. Aldous Huxley; cover and illustrations • Live, Laugh & Learn, by Roswitha McIntosh; cover • Cadences and Word Dancing by Jeanne Powell; cover • The Alameda History of Parks by Woody Minor; cover • Code One, Aviation Art Issue by Lockheed Martin; cover • The Madman & His Mistress, by Roswitha McIntosh; cover • Covers for Squaw Valley Times magazine • Mark’s Remarks, by Mark Ibanez, Channel 2 Sportscaster; cover and sports illustrations • In Search of the Good Life by Roswitha McIntosh, cover and illustrations TV and Radio • Don Roberts Show, interviewed by host Don Roberts, with silk painting Helena • Nash Bridges CBS series, created Mountain Madness Extreme II for its stage • Entertainment Tonight segment with Olympic gold medalist Tommy Moe and EOS portrait of Olympic medalist Steve Mahre at Deer Valley Celebrity Skifest • This Week in Sun Valley interviewed by host Sarah Curtis • Permanent Record (Keanu Reeves) • Flowers in the Attic (Victoria Tennant) • Partners (Ken Topolsky) • This is the Life • All About Art • CBS Sports Spectacular • Totally Hidden Video • Healing Through Art • HGTV Museum Exhibits • USS Hornet Aircraft Carrier Museum, SF Bay, CA • Apollo 11 Anniversary celebrations — USS Hornet Museum 40th Anniversary “Splashdown 2009” with Buzz Aldrin, July 2009, and 30th Anniversary “Moon Fest 1999” with Buzz Aldrin, July 1999 • Golden Age Air Museum, Grimes Airport, Bethel, PA.
