Miles Webber is a fictional character featured on the popular 1980s situation comedy The Golden Girls, and its spin-off The Golden Palace. He was portrayed by Harold V. Goldstein (December 10, 1923 - September 11, 2010), best known by his stage name Harold Gould. Fictional biography Miles Webber comes into the picture as romantic interest in the episode "Dancing in the Dark", Season 5, Episode 6. Even though Nylund feels insecure because of his apparent intelligence and standing as a college professor Webber states that he finds her, and her St. Olaf stories, "refreshing". The two strike up a relationship and Webber resulting in Webber appearing in 12 episodes total. We find out that Webber is a college professor that loves to dance in the first episode he appears in. In his next appearance in the episode "Triple Play" we find out he has a daughter named Caroline. Caroline thinks its too soon for his father to start dating so she tells Rose the best thing she could do is stop seeing him. Webber stands up for his relationship with Nylund and life rolls on. Webber goes on to compete for Nylund's affections when Nylund's old boyfriend Buzz, a musician with the Spike Jones' band, shows up and wants to get back together with her. In the end Webber gets "demanding" and ends up with the girl. Webber is portrayed as an intellectual that's a bit on the dull side at times, frugal (frickin frugal according to Rose), loving and a kind person. Miles is later revealed to be in the Witness Protection Program and his real name is Nicholas Carbone and he was formerly an accountant in Chicago. His biggest client was a gangster named Mickey "The Cheeseman" Miran. Things were looking like he was the crooked one instead of his client Miran so he turned states evidence and testified against Miran and sent him to jail. All would have been well if Miran hadn't escaped. That is what caused him to have to be put in the Witness Protection Program. Even though Webber is revealed to really be Nicholas Carbone he continued to go by the name of Miles Webber for the remainder of his appearances on the show.
