Mike Wiand (January 2, 1944 - May 16, 2014) was an American spy and rock nightclub founder. Wiand was born in Nebraska on January 2, 1944. Having graduated from the University of Wyoming and earning a degree in foreign language, he moved to North Yorkshire, UK, in 1969 and served as an American undercover spy. While in England, he met his future wife in a Leeds nightclub. He remained occupied by opening up several unsuccessful business ventures with his future wife, until he founded The Warehouse nightclub in Leeds in 1979. Bands and figureheads such as Oasis, The Stone Roses, George Michael, George McCrae and Paul Young appeared at the club, making it one of the most notable in the region. Personal life Wiand died from pancreatic cancer at the age of 70, in Baltimore, survived by his wife, Denise, and his son Dean.
