Michel Gervais (dancer)

Michel Gervais is a Canadian ballet dancer.
Gervais was born and raised in Sudbury, Ontario. He began dancing at the age of 11 with the Ida Sauvé Dance Studios. When he became young adult, he joined Canada's National Ballet School and later Les Ballets Jazz de Montréal. After graduation, he became an assistant to the choreographer for the Canadian company Juan Antonio's Confidanse, under the direction of the late Juan Antonio. Gervais has also worked as a performer, assistant and ballet master for David Allan, setting many of his ballets for companies such as: Ballet Pacifica, Hong Kong Ballet, the National Dance Theatre of Bermuda, the National Ballet of Canada, among others. As a dancer, Gervais is known for his performances with Ballet Pacifica, California Riverside Ballet, the Les Ballets Jazz de Montréal, Los Angeles Classical Ballet, National Dance Theatre of Bermuda, Ontario Ballet Theatre, P.M. Jazz, Sacramento Ballet, Theatre Ballet of Canada, and Zing Ballet.
When it comes to choreography, Gervais performed with such artists as Paul-André Fortier, Ulysses Dove, Louis Falco, Eliot Feld, Danny Grossman, Lynn Taylor-Corbett, Brian MacDonald, Rick McCullough, Miriam Mahdaviani, Colin Connor, and Peter Pucci. Many of dancers seek his guidance when it comes to performance, such as Julia Adam, Sabina Allemann, Rex Harrington, Greta Hodgkinson, Darci Kistler, Serge Lavoie, Steven Legate, David Palmer, Johan Peerson, Anthony Randazzo, Galina Shlyapina, and Veronica Tennant. He also known to teach at various summer schools including American Ballet Theatre, Canadian Dance Teachers Association, Dance In Action, Debbie Reynolds Dance Center and Ballet Pacifica and served as guest teacher at Hong Kong Ballet, Jimmy Defore Dance Center, London Rambert Dance Co., the National Dance Theatre of Bermuda, University of California, Irvine, University of California, Riverside, and York University.
