Shelagh McKenna

Shelagh McKenna (born 1955 in London, England) is a Canadian dancer, director and choreographer. She performed in the Broadway Dance Festival and with American Chamber Ballet in the 1970s, and a documentary on her dancing is in the Dance Collection at Lincoln Center. Her dancing and choreography are included in collections of the National Resource Centre for Dance (England) and Jacob's Pillow Festival. Her choreography has been presented at more than fifteen festivals in Europe, North America and South America. One of them won three awards and another was selected for broadcast by in the 1990s. The American Dance Guild invited her to speak on choreography for the camera at the Hong Kong International Dance Conference and Selma Jeanne Cohen invited her to confer with members of the Kirov Ballet on dance archiving. In 2008 her paper 'Choreography and the Camera' was presented in Athens at the UNESCO International Dance Council World Congress on Dance Research.
