thumb G. Micheal Chatellier; born April 21, 1960), is a candidate to replace David Vitter as U.S. Senator for the state of Louisiana. Micheal is a middle class hourly wage working man and retired U.S. Army 1SG. While he is a registered republican he is not a member of any political party. Republican Party. Early life, Micheal Chatellier was born in 7th ward general hospital in Hammond, La the son of Charlene Perilloux Chatellier and Grady H. Chatellier. Micheal worked for a local auto parts store while attending high school. He worked his way up to store manager before moving on to work in the oil field and as a welder in the shipyard. He then joined the Army at the age of 24. While in the Army he attended the Central Texas College. Personal life Micheal is married to Kyong S. Chatellier. The Chatelliers have two children, Claudia who is currently attending Southeastern Louisiana State University and Michael who works in oil industry. Army Micheal started a 22 year 8 month adventure when he left the great state of Louisiana on December 7, 1984 for basic training. He enlisted as a private E1 and attended basic at Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri. After basic and AIT he attended Airborne school before being assigned to Fort Hood, Texas where he rose to the rank of specialist E4. He arrived in the 2d Infantry Division South Korea in January 1987. As a member of the 2nd Infantry Brigade Camp Hovey, Korea he was promoted to Sergeant E5 and served as the team sergeant for the Brigade tactical operations center (TOC). As a member of the 18th Airborne Corps Fort Bragg, NC Micheal was deployed in the defense of Saudi Arabia and Kuwait during Desert Shield and entered Iraq as part of Desert Storm. Micheal (SGT Chatellier) was awarded the Bronze Star for actions during Desert Storm. Micheal sent three years as an Army recruiter in Morgantown WV (1995-1998) before returning to Fort Bragg. Micheal was awarded the Joint Services Commendation as part of OEF 1 where he served at Mazar-e Sharif and Kabul Afghanistan. Micheal returned to South Korea in 2004 where he served as company First Sergeant (1SG) before returning to the U.S. and Louisiana in 2006 at Fort Polk, LA. He served as observer/controller helping to train units deploying to Iraq and Afghanistan. He retired in June 2007 and returned to his home in Bedico (Ponchatoula). <references />
