Michalis Spanos

Michalis Spanos (Μιχάλης Σπανός)-football player now in Athens Greece. He was born in Florina of Greece where he grew up and is now 30 years old. He plays mostly as a central defender and secondarily as a defensive midfielder and his first professional club was one of the biggest Greek clubs AEK Athens at the age of 15 where he stayed for almost 2 seasons making a total of 35 appearances for the clubs Youth and second team under the coaching guidance of former club legend Andreas Stamatiadis. One season later he had a small loan spell in F.C Kalamata, where he played under the coaching of the great Polish Jatszek Gmoh. Alongside some of the greatest Greek football players of this club of that time like  :Nikos Lyberopoulos ,Nikos Georgeas,Christos Mikes,Panagiotis Bachramis,sotiris Lyberopoulos and more. A serious injury in the back followed in next seasons pre-season that saw Michalis sidelined for almost 7 months making his comeback in Athens football divisions, after a whole season of absence.Since then Michalis has played in a total of 6 clubs in major and lower divisions making his remark with an average of 28 appearances every season making a total of approximately 350 games played with several clubs. While on the last seven years he was chosen as captain to every club he has been playing for, something that indicates his strong influence and personality among his teammates on the field. He is one of the highest scoring defenders in these categories scoring an average of 7 goals per season with set pieces as penalty kicks to be considered as his specialty. Last season (2010-2011) he helped his club win the championship in a total of 8 points from the second team and win promotion having the biggest total number of minutes played in the club playing in all 31 official matches and was also the third scorer of the team behind only from the starting forwards with a total of 9 goals.
