Michael Wasserman

Dr. Michael Wasserman is a medical doctor specializing in geriatrics and is a co-founder of Senior Care of Colorado, which was the largest privately owned primary care geriatric practice in the country. He was president and chief medical officer of Denver, Colorado-based GeriMed of America, chair of the American Geriatrics Society’s Managed Care Task Force and now serves on its public policy committee. He was also a public commissioner for the continuing care accreditation commission.
He speaks extensively on the subjects of geriatrics, Alzheimer's Disease, practice management and managed care.
Education
Wasserman is a graduate of the University of Texas Medical School in Galveston, Texas. He completed an internal medicine residency at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center and a geriatric medicine fellowship at UCLA.
Career
Wasserman, with Dr. Donald Murphy, founded Senior Care of Colorado in 2001. Both had practices managed by GeriMed, and Wasserman was made president and chief medical officer of the company in 1997. However, government subsidies for geriatric clinics ended and most of GeriMed’s clinics closed by 2000. Wasserman and Murphy bought their practices and founded Senior Care of Colorado in 2001.
By 2010, it was the largest privately owned geriatric practice in the country and was purchased by California-based IPC The Hospitalist Company, a physician group practice.
Wasserman has also penned articles for the Seniors Resource Guide, Everyday Health and was featured in American Medical News, PBS Newshour and The Contributor.
He a former co-chair of the Colorado Alzheimer's Coordinating Council.
Wasserman also supports the Colorado-based Wish of a Lifetime Foundation; served on the board of The Denver Hospice and sits on the Merck Manual of Diagnosis and Therapy’s editorial board.
He is also a co-founder of GeekNation with actress, Clare Kramer and producer, Brian R. Keathley.
