Michael Potts

Michael Potts (born June 23, 1956 in Big Spring, Texas) is Chief Executive Officer of Rocky Mountain Institute (RMI), a Colorado-based “think and do tank” that focuses on profitable innovations for energy and resource efficiency. Potts was named CEO in March 2007, at which time RMI co-founder Amory Lovins was named Chairman and Chief Scientist.

Potts, a high-tech industry veteran, is a former Managing Partner with Galway Investments, an investment firm focused on alternative public offering strategies for small-cap and mid-cap companies, and a consultant. Prior to Galway, Potts served as CEO for American Fundware and as Vice President of Public Sector Solutions for Intuit.

Potts currently serves on RMI's Board of Trustees, as well as the boards of the Business School at the University of Colorado at Denver, Denver's Curious Theater, and Kripalu Center, the nation's largest spiritual retreat center. A resident of Denver, Colorado, Potts is based in RMI's Boulder, Colorado office.
