Michael Schuerger

Michael Schuerger, born January 11, 1963, in Lank-Latum by the Lower River Rhine, is a German movie director, music and movie producer, author, actor and voice-over artist. He grew up in Krefeld-Uerdingen, studied administration and started working for the Krefeld local government.
His first little production he realized when he was a school boy using a Super 8 camera. He made up and filmed the story of a spaceship he had built himself from beer mats. In 1989 he was awarded “The Golden Spool of the Kinobetriebe Pollit" for the movie The Reel Thing, which he had filmed together with his friends Mark Michel and Tim Schnoeckelborg. The prize was handed over by nationally known actor Rolf Zacher. A year later Schuerger played the main role in Christian Diedrich’s darkish vision Serious Entertainment. Quite a few spots, short films and music videos for artists like Sequential One, Jennifer McCray, Shana Tesh, General Base, Heintje and others followed, shot in the United States, France, Brazil, Spain, Belgium and Poland. In 1995, Schuerger gave up his position as a local official. In 2004 he co-produced Ari Taub’s World War drama The Fallen, which also had him appear as a major and received several awards. In 2005 he created a 90-minute documentary for the 100-year anniversary of the soccer team KFC Uerdingen 05, which achieved cult status under the title "KFC - The DVD."
As a speaker and voice-over artist Schuerger gained a reputation working for the magazine "Prinz" and a number of computer games. He also has a strong affinity for music. Schuerger made quite a splash in the House and Techno scene with a formation called “Kosmos“ and DJ “Kosmonova“. Their remix of the soundtrack of the German cult series Raumpatrouille (1966, black and white) was considered revolutionary in the year of 1996 and stayed in the Mediacontrol Top 100 for several months. Furthermore the fuzzed and lowered voice of the MC on a string of productions of the band Aquagen and a few more tricks were his, whereas the sound of the 1960s and 70s shaped the songs on his album “The Digglers, Animal Garden“, recorded and issued together with Jan Ploenes in 2011.
For many years Schuerger has been visiting and enjoying Williamsburg, Brooklyn. With Far Rockaway, predominantly playing in Brooklyn, he delivered his debut as director of a full-length motion picture in 2011, starring Alexis Savino, Stephanie Lynn and George Wienbarg. In 2013 a small but fine piece of Krefeld became the star of Schuerger’s movie “The Schluff And The Secret Of The Golden Pocket Watch“, an adventurous story for the entire family with Carla Dondera, Mirjam Jochim, Hans-Ulrich Rubin and Johannes Kockers in the main roles plus guest star Tom Gerhardt in three different roles.
