Michael Cloud is a motivational speaker and Libertarian Party activist. Cloud was the Massachusetts Libertarian Party candidate for U.S. Senate in 2002. He received 369,807 votes for 16.7% [http://clerk.house.gov/member_info/electionInfo/2002/2002Stat.htm#21] of the vote in a 2-way race against the Democratic candidate, benefiting from the lack of a Republican candidate in the race. Cloud also ran in the 1998 Senate Elections as the Libertarian candidate in Nevada. Cloud received 8,129 votes for 1.9% of the vote. He briefly served as campaign manager for the 1996 Harry Browne for President campaign, replaced by Sharon Ayres. In 2004 Michael Cloud was a Co-founder of the Center For Small Government an organization dedicated to limiting the size of state and federal government. The Committee's goal was to put the issue of ending the Massachusetts income tax on the 2008 ballot, However the measure failed with only 30% of the vote. In 2002, a similar campaign ended up with 45.3 percent of the vote.
