Epworth Day School

Epworth Day School is a preschool located in the city of Atlanta's historic Candler Park neighborhood. It is located in the heart of the Candler Park 30307 neighborhood, situated across the entrance to Candler Park itself.
The Day School is Candler Park 30307's only preschool.
Epworth Day School is a ministry of Epworth United Methodist Church @ Candler Park (Epworth Church), known as "the little church with a big heart." Epworth Church has a rich and inspiring history. The church was organized in 1890. The current location on McLendon Avenue was built shortly after 1925, with the first service being held in 1928.
Church service was held in the current day school wing until the present sanctuary was dedicated in 1959. Today, day school students pass through the big doorway with decorative glass topping trim on their way to class. This used to be the entrance to the 'sanctuary.'
Epworth Church is rich in "Miss Mary Lin" history, the former principal and namesake of 30307's public elementary school, Mary Lin Elementary. Miss Mary Lin was the head of Epworth Church's primary department as well as principal of Mary Lin Elementary. The day school and the church boast a color photograph of Miss Mary Lin, as well as various documents, books, and historical items belonging to and pertaining to Miss Mary Lin.
Today, the day school serves intown Atlanta children ages 16 months to 5 years. The school consists of a Sprouts Class (toddlers), Seedlings Class (age ~2+), Buds & Blooms Class (age ~3+), and a Pre-K. The Pre-K is a part-time, private alternative to Georgia public Pre-K.
The day school follows the EDS Curriculum, which is centered around environmental education. All ages spend a significant part of each day on the natural playspace. The Pre-K curriculum includes all components of Georgia's Pre-K Content Standards, as well as standards unique to EDS.
