Altoona Central Catholic School

Altoona Central Catholic School is an Organizational Schooling Association located in Altoona, Pennsylvania. Altoona Central Catholic School provide Catholic education to residents of the Altoona area at an elementary school site and a middle school. The school builds on the exceptional traditions of nine elementary schools that were an integral part of Altoona's early Roman Catholic history. The school ranges from grades Pre-School to 8th Grade.
The railroad town of great ethnic diversity gave rise to many ethnic churches, each with their own schools. For decades, these schools were staffed primarily by several religious orders of sisters. But as demographics changed and the number of religious diminished, the nature of the these parish schools had to change.
Altoona Central Catholic was a response to those changing circumstances. This new model for Catholic Schools in the Altoona area has met with great success, among other things, establishing the first middle school in the diocese.

The school is one of five school's in the Altoona Catholic Elementary schools. ACCS is well-known for their great athletic teams. There is currently 25 teachers in ACCS. With 2 teachers per every grade. The most-recent 8th grade class had 29 students in it. The most out of all the Catholic elementary schools. The newly renovated elementary school holds grades Pre-School to 4th Grade. The Middle School which is housed in the former St.Mary's School holds grades 5th to 8th.
The Pre-School to 4th grade, Elementary School is located at, Wopsonock Avenue in the Downtown part of Altoona. The school is right across the street from St.Teresa Church.
The Middle School is located on 4th Avenue in Altoona. Right above from St.Mary's Church. It is located in the Greater part of Altoona.
In 2006 the students voted on a school mascot and the knight was at the top of the results. Then forming the ACCS Knights.
