Dr. Letitia P. Libman is a neuropsychologist who was licensed to practice in Illinois from 12/01/1982 to 09/30/2008. According to her NPI (National Provider Identifier) Lookup, (NPI #1720270002) she also practices under the name "Laetitia Liebman". In 2000, Dr. Libman was accused of an unprofessional relationship with Lorin Womack, an animal keeper from Batavia, Illinois accused of a murder-for-hire plot. At that time her testimony indicated that she volunteered at his animal refuge, Land O' Lorin. Prosecutors insinuated an unprofessional relationship between the Batavia animal keeper and Dr. Libman who was testifying in his case. Womack was later convicted. In 2005 Dr. Libman faced further legal troubles when five former patients claimed wrongdoing by Dr. Libman while she was employed at Delnor-Community Hospital in Geneva, Illinois. Deanna Whetstine claimed Dr. Libman use Tarot cards and love potions in her treatment for chronic pain related to a neurological condition. Whetstine also claims to have lived with Dr. Libman in her home. Shelley Standau claimed Dr. Libman wrote out witch's spells for her to practice in order "to resolve her mental problems and attain her goals in life." and ultimately inducting her into a Wicca coven. In the January 2006 Newsletter of the Genesee Valley Psychiatric Association, claim is detailed as "therapy consisted of tarot cards, nudity and self-mutilation, the lawsuit contends. Along with the witchcraft claims, the lawsuit also alleges Libman tried to buy illegal drugs from Standau's boyfriend, engaged in erotic behavior with another patient in front of Standau and talked of drugging the drink of a doctor she had a sexual relationship with." Kathleen Carlson claimed similar witch's spells were administered to resolve her mental and physical issues. Kenneth Sutter, another patient, also claims a similar experience. In September 2006 a fifth patient, a school-aged child, alleges sexual advances, witchcraft, spells, charms, threats, and induction into a coven were all administered as therapy. On March 17, 2005 the Chicago Tribune reported her as saying "If anything, I'm Buddhist" A month later on April 19, 2005 the same publication reported "She said she personally follows beliefs practiced by Native-Americans, something which she learned from her father, who is half-Native-American." On June 8, 2005, Dr. Libman has the dubious distinction of receiving the "Creme de la Weird" award in Chuck Shepherd's popular "News of the Weird" column.. In October 2005 Kane County Judge F. Keith Brown dismissed two of the three lawsuits saying he would consider the lawsuits again if an attorney for the former patients could provide more details on the allegations and their connection to the hospital. The same day, Kane County Judge Gene Nottolini denied requests to dismiss the third Kane County lawsuit. In a September 2006 letter to the editor printed in the Daily Herald, Dr. Libman denied all allegations. In June 2007 Dr. Libman's license to practice Psychology was suspended by the State of Illinois for, violating professional boundaries (https://www.idfpr.com/DPR/licenselookup/default.asp search by License Number 071003004) and was required to take ethics classes for "permitting a former patient to live in and accompany her on a trip to Iowa." While taking this self-study course, Dr. Libman found that Professional Regulations indicate that assisting a patient ( barring exploitation) is not a restricted activity. Dr. Libman did not apply for a license in any State after serving a 1 year suspension. On January 22, 2009 Letitia Libman was charged by Iowa Police for driving with a suspended/canceled license. The cases were all dismissed in June, 2010. Dr. Libman is listed as currently practicing as a Clinical Psychologist in Iowa City, Iowa in spite of not being licensed as a Psychologist in the state. An Illinois business mailing address has been supplied (even though she is no longer licensed to practice in Illinois). The Illinois address, 2401 Kaneville Rd., Suite #8 Geneva IL 60134, is the office of Steven Lekah, MD. As late as April 2011, the unlicensed Dr. Libman is also listed as practicing at a different Illinois location, Community Neurologic Center 2172 Blackberry Drive, Suite 202, Geneva, IL 60134, again with Dr. Steven V. Lekah.
