Metta Institute is an Institute formed in 2004 that provides education on spirituality as connected to dying. It is inspired by the Buddhist tradition and is based in Sausalito California. Program Metta Institute's program encourages integration of the spiritual dimensions of living, dying and transformation, through professional training and educational programs. It provides workshops, presentations and retreats that are lead by its director, Frank Ostaseski (also founding director the Zen Hospice Project) and other core faculty. These programs train healthcare professionals and support medical institutions in improving care of the dying. Experiential workshops and retreats assist family caregivers, people living with life-threatening illness, and others in living fully in the face of death.
