The company provides an assessment of research and scholarly articles, along with data analysis, to give patients, providers, and payers information to make care decisions. History In 2012, it was acquired by the Hearst Corporation and became the MCG care guidelines. Previously MCG was also known as Milliman and Robertson guidelines or M&R guidelines. It is one of two nationally recognized industry guidelines for the determination of medical necessity used by payers (such as Medicare and TennCare); the other is InterQual ®. MCG, develops and produces evidence-based clinical guidelines and software, which are updated annually. All MCG content is developed under consideration of government regulations, such as the Mental Health Parity Act, and can be used to support achieving accreditation/certification through NCQA, URAC, and the Joint Commission. In 2012, MCG started integrating directly into patient electronic health records (EHRs) and medical management platforms. In January 2019, EvidenceCare announced its partnership with MCG Health to embed MCG's guidelines into its clinical decision support tool.
