AOD Software

AOD Software is a developer of clinical and financial software for Long Term Care communities including nursing homes, continuing care retirement communities, assisted living facilities, home health agencies and rehabilitation centers. It was established in 1995 and holds one product named "AnswersElite".
It was recently announced in 2009 that Widener University, The Kendal Corporation and AOD were collaborating on a pilot academic study on the use of electronic health records (EHR). This study is to be an extensive workflow analysis of paper processes at various Kendal-affiliate long term care communities and will involve the measurement of what occurs to the clinical workflow when an electronic medical record is implemented. The implications of this study may allow other long term care facilities to utilize the best practices reported in this write up.
The Widener University research team is led by Dr. Penelope Sue Greenberg, Associate Professor in the Department of Management Information Systems and Decision Sciences at Widener. It is expected that Dr. Greenberg and her team will produce a formal report and will schedule presentations at relevant industry associations in the coming year.
AOD has also announced on their website that work on the for MDS 3.0 guidelines as set by the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) has begun to meet their current deadline of October 2009. This will allow long term care communities to be fully in compliance with the government regulation by the due date set by CMS and continue to be able to bill Medicare and Medicaid patients.
