Martin Pattara (also known by his stage name Martin 2 Smoove, and alternatively spelled Martin2Smoove) is a British DJ and record producer based in London.
Marin also collaborated with various notable artists, including Trevor Nelson, Jazzy Jeff, and Mark Ronson. the British royal family, Nike, GQ, Belaire Rosé, Drake, Bruno Mars, Jony Ive, U2, James Corden, among many others.
Early life
Martin was born in Kerala, India, and emigrated to the United Kingdom with his family during his childhood. He was first attracted to hip-hop and dance music in his teens and began hosting club events at his university's student union while he was studying at Keele University.
Career
Martin’s first residency was for recognised student night, Milkshake, at the Ministry of Sound nightclub, a long-residing dance and house venue in London. During his Milkshake residency, Martin collaborated with musicians including Trevor Nelson, Jazzy Jeff, Shortee Blitz and Mark Ronson.
In 2008, Martin began his international career, touring as a featured artist on Ministry of Sound Tours around the world. Martin has performed many countries, including China, Japan, Hong Kong, France, The Cayman Islands, the United States, UAE, Lebanon, Spain, Nigeria, Moldova, Romania, and South Africa.
Martin gained his first global residency in 2011, performing a regular DJ set in the Global Room at an Ibiza nightclub, Pacha, until 2013. Martin performed alongside Pacha residents Pete Tong and Trevor Nelson each week, with the venue a go-to for global celebrities visiting the island.
Martin's first tour as an official tour DJ was on the MOBO Tour of the United Kingdom in 2012. Martin toured alongside Cleo Sol, Clement Marfo & The Frontline and Lady Leshurr, among others.
Martin began his affiliation with V Festival in 2014, performing as part the line-up on the MTV stage to a crowd of 20,000. Martin also performed at V Festival on the MTV stage in 2015 and 2016.
In October 2015, Martin became resident DJ at the 6 Day Cycle competition, providing entertainment to guests at London’s Olympic Velodrome.
In May 2016, Martin was officially made the Gumball 3000 Tour DJ, participating in the annual international celebrity motor rally for the first time. That same year, he was also a supporting opening act on an Arena and Stadium tour of the USA and Canada with Gwen Stefani and guest act, rapper Eve. Gwen Stefani’s third solo concert tour, This Is What The Truth Feels Like, had 27 dates in USA and Canada. In 2016, he partnered up with DJs Andy Purnell and Killa Kam to create the international DJ collective Superhero DJs. The trio perform at events and festivals around the world.
In 2017, Martin 2 Smoove received the "Best DJ" award at the annual London Club and Bar Awards.
In 2018, Martin collaborated with DJ Jonezy to produce a Venice Beach All-Star Mixtape.
Martin continues to work closely with Eve as her official Tour DJ, and has toured around the world with the Grammy award-winning artist.
Musical style
Exposed to music from various eras and genres since his youth, Martin is an open-format DJ, favouring old-school hip-hop and rap.
