Martin Bucer European Theological Seminary and Research Institutes is an evangelical theological seminary and research institute in Protestant reformed tradition.
The seminary is named after the reformer Martin Bucer.
Education
Martin Bucer European Theological Seminary and Research Institutes offers a theological education that is faithful to biblical truth, missionary and based on classically evangelical and reformed doctrine. The educational extra of the seminary are the many study centres with up to 20 students, who beside their academic training are interns in local churches. It has places of training in 12 cities (Bonn, Bielefeld, Chemnitz, Hamburg, Innsbruck, Linz, Munich, Pforzheim, São Paulo, Zürich, Prague, and Istanbul) in six countries (Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Czech Republic, Turkey, Brazil). The seminary had 378 students in 2016, 151 of them in Brazil. In addition there are further 200 students studying online. The offered courses enable to receive a Bachelor of Theology and a Master of Theology, that are bestowed by the Whitefield Theological Seminary. President is Prof. Dr. Thomas Schirrmacher.
The scientific study and research is mainly focused on ethics, islamic studies, missiology, and religious freedom. Close connected to the Martin Bucer European Theological Seminary and Research Institutes are several institutes of research as the International Institute for Religious Freedom, the Institute of Islamic Studies, the Institut für Lebens- und Familienwissenschaften or Hope.21. These institutes are networks of christian scientists from all over the world.
The seminary is member of the World Reformed Fellowship and connected to the Evangelical Alliance.
