Marthese Portelli

Dr. Marthese Portelli (born 27 May 1976) is a Nationalist Party (Maltese: Partit Nazzjonalista) candidate for the 2009 European Parliament elections in Malta.

Dr Marthese Portelli is running for the European Parliament Elections as a Nationalist Party (PN) candidate in Malta's second MEP election.
Professional Life
Professionally Marthese is a lawyer and manages her own legal office, she specializes in Commercial Law and IT. She is also a lecturer to a private company specializing in strategy & business development as well as a lecturer in the local traffic warden academy. Dr. Marthese Portelli has also served as a representative of the Ministry of Justice and Home Affairs Council on Children.
Engagement in Society
Marthese first became active politically when she was elected Vice-President of the University of Malta Students Council (Maltese: Kunisll Studenti Universitarji). She also actively participated in the Gender Issues Committee of the University of Malta at the time. She was also elected chairman of the Gozitan University Group (Maltese: Grupp Universitarji Għawdxin). She also worked in the Socrates Programme on projects related to ERASMUS and Grundtvig.
Education
Marthese attained a Law degree from the University of Malta. She also has a diploma from the European Community Legal Issues Platform (ECLIP) and also one for Public Administration.
Marthese has attended the Junior Lyceum for Girls of Victoria, Gozo and the Primary School Laura Vicuña of Ghasri, Gozo.
Family
Marthese Portelli is married to Jesmond Azzopardi and has a son of three years, Miguel.
