Controversial views of Protestant Christianity
In a 2008 message spoken at Amazing Grace Church in Wheeler Township, Michigan, after stating that he was a church theologian, Dr. Barclay publicly condemned Protestant Christianity by calling Calvinism, "a condemning damnable doctrine" though the Protestant Reformation rediscovered the Gospel.
In a 2009 message spoken at Living Word Church in Midland, Michigan, Dr. Barclay stated that he does not believe in "Once saved always saved" and that even Charles Spurgeon, whom he respects, states, "It is my opinion", and we are all entitled to our opinion. Barclay also stated "maybe Calvinism is right, but what if you're wrong? The challenge is to live right, live clean, and serve God."
