Mark A. Hillman is the Founder and President of Hillman Capital Management Inc., a Registered Investment Adviser. The company provides portfolio management services to mutual funds, pensions, foundations, endowments and high net-worth individuals. Career Hillman began his career in the Investment business in 1986. In 1991 he founded Custom Asset Management, where he held the position of President and Chief Investment Officer before merging the company with Menocal Capital Management, where he served as Managing Director and Chief Investment Officer. In 1998 Hillman, founded Hillman Capital Management in Annapolis, Maryland, bringing in assets from his previous companies. In 2000 he formed two mutual funds, the Hillman Focused Advantage Fund (HCMAX) and the Hillman Advantage Equity Fund (HCMTX). In 2005 Hillman moved the firm to Bethesda, Maryland. Mark is known for his ten year winning streak, when his focused strategy widely outperformed the S&P 500 Total Return Index in every calendar year from 1996 through 2005. Sailboat Racing Hillman, born in 1962, attended Gilman School in Baltimore, Maryland before moving on to Tufts University, where he received a BA in Economics. Hillman is an avid sailor who competes in a number of classes. He placed 2nd in the 2006 J24 North American Championship as well as in the 2007, 2008 and 2009 J24 National Championships. A perennial top ten finisher in the J24 East Coast Championship, he won the event in 1999. In the J24 World Championship, his top finishes include 3rd, 6th, 9th and 11th. In the 1980’s, Mark helmed a series of IOR boats known as Dr. Feelgood, owned by his father, Sheldon Hillman, in a number of events and placed 2nd in the 1985 Annapolis to Newport Race. Personal Mark lives in Bethesda, Maryland with his wife, Melba Quizon, and their daughter. They have been married since 1991.
