Gameplay
Just like the traditional Mario Kart series, game modes like Single Mode and Battle Mode were to be included. There would have been up to 30 different playable characters and 12 different courses.
The main mode in the game is where the player races in a series of grand prix competitions (referred to as Cups), against computer-controlled competitors. Each Cup consists of four three-lap races. Each Cup has three difficulty levels, which determine the speed of the karts: 50cc, 100cc, and 150cc.
Like traditional Mario Kart games, players can use items to hinder other players' progress. In Battle mode, players are placed in specially designed battle arenas, strewn with power-ups. Each player has three balloons attached to their kart. Each time they take a hit from an offensive item or an opponent's ramming, they lose a balloon. The last player standing wins.
