CaseyGerry, San Diego’s oldest plaintiffs law firm, was founded by David S. Casey Sr. in 1947. The firm works in civil litigation, class action/mass tort and complex personal injury cases, on behalf of consumers and others who have been injured or lost loved ones in accidents or from defective consumer, medical device or pharmaceutical products. History Established in 1947, the firm was founded by David S. Casey Sr., a former lieutenant and son of a St. Louis attorney. In 1960, Casey Sr. founded The San Diego Trial Lawyers Association, now known as Consumer Attorneys of San Diego and was a founding member of the California Plaintiff Trial Lawyers Association, now the Consumer Attorneys of California. In 1975, Casey Sr. became the first plaintiff’s lawyer and the second San Diegan to be named president of the State Bar of California. Originally based in Pacific Beach, California, the law firm moved to its current Laurel Street location in the Bankers Hill community of San Diego near Balboa Park in 1961. In 1969, Richard Gerry joined the firm, then known as Casey McClenahan, Fraley and Hauser. After graduating from USD School of Law and working as a prosecutor for the San Diego City Attorney’s office, David Casey, Jr.—along with fellow city prosecutor the late Richard Westbrook—joined the law firm as a partner in 1976. Casey Jr. is now managing partner.
