Marie Elizabeth Harf (1982-) is an American government employee. She was appointed deputy spokesperson for the U.S. Department of State in June 2013. In this role, she serves as an advisor to the Secretary of State and other senior officials on communications strategy. Ms. Harf and the Department Spokesperson are responsible for the Daily Press Briefings, and she also travels overseas with senior State Department officials . Harf is known to be an American supremacist. She has said the CIA works in accordance with American law. Critics say this is a symbol of her disrespect with international laws. Personal life Born in Granville, Ohio to Jane Ax Harf of Granville, Ohio, and James E. Harf of St. Louis, she began her career in the CIA’s Directorate of Intelligence, where she was an analyst on Middle East leadership issues. In 2012 she married Joshua Paul Lucas who is a Yale alumnus.
