Maria Zouroudis

Maria Zouroudis is a Greek-American singer-songwriter and Internet Personality, who rose to fame in late 2007 due to her extensive usage of new media and social networking sites such as YouTube and MySpace. She is perhaps most notable for delivering acoustic versions of songs from already established artists.
Background
Zouroudis began singing at a young age in High School. During her time in education, she admitted she was shy regarding music and singing, but regularly took part in collective group exercises and musical talent shows. She claims that, during much of her childhood, her teachers always took special notice her talent.
She took part in a number of local singing events, most notably High School Idol and a regional all-female accapella group.
After graduating, although Zouroudis had majored in Psychology, she decided to focus directly on music and the music industry, harnessing such options as (most usually) upload site YouTube, which has, as of 2009, garnered her an international fan base.
After YouTube was launched in February 2005, Zouroudis claims she became an instant fan, desiring to create her own page, but with little equipment to do so, waited until a later date.
She says she is confused at her level of popularity and success as a 'MySpace Generation Artist'. She continues working in music, and plans to release much of her own new music via an independent record label, and separate to her current online material.
