Biography
Khalief Khadafi aka Khadafi Dub was born in Philadelphia, PA to a music family. Khadafi started out as Konfidential in the Philadelphia hip hop scene before taking a break from music and resurfaced using his birth name, Khalief Khadafi, in the World Beat Band The Urban Shamans as a percussionist and vocalist. With the band Khadafi Dub played lots of Dub music which eventually led him to Dubstep. Being one of the first MC's to focus primarily on Dubstep Khadafi has gained lots of criticism from Dubstep purist and a lot of praise from people who would like to see the genre grow. Khadafi has gained a world wide fan base with is rebellious lyrical content & style and his electric performances. Khadafi has done VIP remixes of some of Dubstep's top artist, Skream,Babylon System, Mt Eden Dubstep, Stenchman, Sub Division and more. Rebel From America (Khadafi's debut Dubstep Mixtape) was released Christmas day 2009 on KhaliefKhadafi.com where the MC received over 30,000 plays and began to develop a strong Dubstep Fan Base.
After only one week of the release of Rebel From America, Khadafi was contacted by Mary Anne Hobbs for his song entitled Outlaw which went on to be called Dubstep's "Birthday Song" by fans on the Dubstep Facebook page. Khadafi runs the US branch of Dubstep Mix which is a world wide Dubstep Online Promotional Team with Bases in US, UK, South Africa and Australia.
Behind The Scenes
Besides being an MC Khadafi is an online marketing and promotion specialists. He has worked with artist such as Down Jones,ENDBOSS, Robokop and labels such as in efforts to establish an online presence and sharing their music with fans around the world. Khadafi also built the online brand of Dubstep Mix which includes Dubstep Mix Youtube page, Dubstep Mix Facebook, Dubstep Mix website, Drumstep Mix facebook and Drumstep Mix Youtube
Khadafi has experience in promotion dating back to his independent hip hop days where he launched one of the biggest independent marketing campaigns to hit the Philadelphia music scene.
History
Khadafi Dub started his career as Konfidential in the underground Philly (Philadelphia, PA) hip-hop scene. He appeared as Konfidential on 106 & Park becoming the first independent (RedRum Records) artist to be New Joint Of The Day with his first single How We Roll off his debut album A New Beginning. Along with his appearance as New Joint Of The Day, Khadafi Dub (Konfidential) also appeared in regular rotation on BET: Uncut, MTV Jams, Clear Channel and radio stations. His face covered the back of SEPTA buses and his REDRUM t-shirts were wore by fans all across the city of Philadelphia. His debut album A New Beginning was labeled an underground classic and has not been re released as of today. After taking a break from music Khadafi Dub joined The Urban Shamans, a World Beat Band from Philadelphia where he began to perform on stage with the likes of KRS 1 The Whalers Anthony B The Last Poets Ambassador Junior Lion Immortal Technique and more. During his time with The Urban Shamans, Khadafi developed a unique performance style that he has carried over to the Dubstep scene.
Life
Khadafi was born in Philadelphia PA. His father died when Khadafi was 4 years old. At the age of 13 his best friend Kevin Lee was gunned down in a crossfire and faced an unexpected death. Khadafi then became an introverted teenager as he struggled to make the adjustment from public to private school. He was awarded a basketball scholarship in high school where he excelled on the basketball court but struggled socially. against his families wishes Khadafi did not attend his high school graduation and dropped out of college after only one semester. After a few run ins with law enforcemene and a near death experience, Khadafi changed his way of life and has become an advocate for world change.
