Marcus Bachmann (born c. 1956) is an American therapist. He is the husband of United States Representative Michele Bachmann, whom he married in 1978. He is the founder and President of Bachmann & Associates, a self-described Christian counseling clinic. Bachmann's parents came to the United States from Switzerland in 1950 and took up residence on a federally-subsidized farm in Buffalo County, Wisconsin, which his family still owns. During the early days of his wife's campaign for the 2012 Republican Presidential nomination, Bachmann stayed out of the spotlight. In July 2011, undercover hidden-camera investigators with Truth Wins Out presented themselves as committed Christians who were struggling with homosexuality. Both reported that the clinic's staff practiced so-called reparative therapy, a practice repudiated by the American Psychological Association, which attempts to turn homosexuals into heterosexuals. Bachmann responded that reparative therapy is only used "at the client's discretion."
