Maranatha Chapel is a Christian church in San Diego, California. It is affiliated with Calvary Chapel. Maranatha Chapel was founded in 1984 by Ray Bentley (pastor) who is still the senior pastor of the church. The church has strong children, family, and home group ministries. Both Awana and Royal Rangers youth groups are hosted by the church. Maranatha Chapel's missions department has a working relationship with Far Reaching Ministries and regularly sends teams to Uganda and Kenya. Maranatha Chapel is considered a megachurch as they have around 7,000 people attending the church as of 2006. It is one of the largest churches in northern San Diego County. In 1991 the church founded Maranatha Christian Schools for students preschool to 12th grade. It also developed a daughter church, Maranatha San Marcos, in the nearby city of San Marcos, California in 1995.
