Mapco Corp. is a plastic company situated in the border city of Lahore of the southern province of Punjab in Pakistan. The company’s strategic headquarters is divided between Lahore, Pakistan and Toronto, Canada. It was the first plastic company founded in Lahore Pakistan. Mapco was originally named Munir Ashraf Plastic Company, in 1997 the company re-originated its names meaning to Munir Ahmad Plastic Company, again in 2007 the company names meaning was re-originated to Munir Ahmad Plastic Corporation.
History Mapco was officially founded in 1977 although the project had started several years before. It was founded in Lahore, Pakistan on Grand Triumph Road, next to the Pakistan Mint. It was cofounded by Mr. Mohammad Ashraf Bilal and Mr. Munir Ahmad Babar as a partnership. The company was later transformed into a proprietorship in 1996 for Mr. Munir Ahmad Babar when Mr. Mohammad Ashraf Bilal sold his share of the company to Mr. Munir Ahmad Babar. Mr. Mohammad Ashraf Bilal later went on to found the biggest plastic engineering company in Pakistan. Mohammad Ashraf Engineering Works. In the year 2000 Mapco was registered as a corporation in Canada.

Unico Uniico is a plastic Injection moulding brand of Mapco Corp. It was founded in 2002. It is situated in Lahore Pakistan. It supplies most major products processed from plastic injection moulding. The major products include plastic handles of Irons and buckets. The president of Unicco is Mr. Imran Ahmad Sultan, son of the Plastic Hall of Famer Sultan Ahmad.
Mapco Traders Mapco Traders is a plastic raw material indenter/trading brand of Mapco Corp. It was founded in Mississauga Canada in 2006. It is situated in Lahore Pakistan. It carries the most plastic raw material manufacturers in Pakistan, including Exxon Mobil and SABIC . The president of Mapco Traders is Mr. Safir Ahmad Babar
Mapco Tech Mapco Tech is a plastic machinery manufacturing and assembling brand of Mapco Corp. It was founded in 2005. It is situated in Lahore Pakistan. It supplies plastic blown film lines, flexographic machinery, and bag making machinery. The president of Mapco Traders is Mr. Basir Ahmad Babar.
Munir Ahmad Babar The CEO and Chairman of Mapco Corp. is Munir Ahmad Babar (born 1949 in Lahore, Pakistan) is a Canadian businessman. He was Preceded By Mohammad Ashraf Bilal in 1996, after Ashraf Bilal’s Resignation Due to the Spilt of the Company. He is also a Plastic Hall of Famer, he was inducted into the Plastic Hall of Fame in May 2006.
He was elected President of the International Plastic Hall of Fame in 2007. He was preceded by his son Safir Ahmad Babar the Founder of the Plastic Hall of Fame.
Safir Ahmad Babar Since December 2006 Safir Ahmad Babar is the CMO of Mapco Corp. He brought Mapco from a domestic level to becoming a prominent player in the world economy.
He is also the Founder of the Plastic Hall of Fame. He was elected the president of the Hall of Fame in 2004. He later resigned in 2007 after a three year run, he was succeeded by his Father Munir Ahmad Babar. He was elected the Chief Elections Officers for the International Plastic Hall of Fame in December 2007.
Criticism Mapco has often been the subject of public criticism as a polluter of carbon emission at there manufacturing facility. Mapco representatives have often replied to this criticism as unfounded criticism against a corporation. Mapco’s environmental record has been a consistent target of critics, not only from outside organizations like Greenpeace and the World Wide Fund for Nature but also from institutional investors unhappy about its stance on global warming.
2005 Environmental Campaign In Order to appear caring the Mapco Corp advertised there environmental message across Television and Radio Stations in Pakistan in which A person standing in front of a lush green garden says “It is the responsibility of everyone, from industries to families and individuals, to save our precious earth through pollution prevention and conservation of natural resources - through reduce, reuse and recycle.” the screen fades into a white background with the Mapco logo in the center, with a label "It is the responsibility of everyone."
Mapco Helping Humanity Organization Mapco is often associated with Charity work done with the unfortunate people of Shalimar Town the place where the factory is located, including helping families with healthcare, education and basic necessities of life. Mapco's Website informs that the company has launched there official non profit organization Mapco Helping Humanity which will aim at helping children with educational passion the means to get the education they want.
