Manuel Rivera-Ortiz Foundation

The Manuel Rivera-Ortiz Foundation for International Photography is a non-profit private operating foundation headquartered in Rochester, New York with offices in Paris, France and Zurich, Switzerland. The Foundation was established in 2010 by social documentary photographer Manuel Rivera-Ortiz to support underrepresented photographers, in particular from less developed countries.
Programs
The Foundation supports underrepresented photographers, in particular from less developed countries, in four specific program areas:
* book publications;
* traveling exhibition;
* awards and grants; and
* educational programs.
With regard to book publications and traveling exhibitions, the Foundation rewards the dedication and determination of emerging photographers in countries chosen by its Board of Trustees and its Advisory Board, where the need for photography as a catalyst for change and social justice seems most pressing.<ref name="MRO Press Release 1" />
