Mama Black Widow is a book written by Iceberg Slim which has been made into a film. It's set to be released in 2009.
Film Details
The film which is being produced by Chris Hanley, Erix Arocha and Dave Mortell, will be directed by Darren Grant. Mary Vernieu is the casting director. The script was written by Will De Los Santos and is being packaged by the William Morris Agency.
Filming is set to start April 2009 in Chicago.
Angela Bassett said playing the lead character would "be the role of a lifetime. You don't find stories of this caliber very often mainly because studios are afraid of them."
Rihanna will not be in the movie as many people have been rumoring.
Plot
Mama Black Widow is the portrait of a black family's migration from the southern Mississippi fields of the segregated south to the ghettoized black underworld of Chicago during the 1930s. The story follows Otis Tilson's struggle to keep his family together as they navigate through a world of alcoholism, pimping, sexual deviation and racial degradation. Told in the gut level language of the original novel by Iceberg Slim, the family's journey is a harsh testament of lives lived on the margins of a racist and predatory world.
