Magna Carta Cartel

Magna Carta Cartel (often referred to by the acronym MCC) is a Swedish rock band known for being the precursor of the now-famous band Ghost. The group is currently led by frontman Martin Persner, who brought the group back from a long, indefinite hiatus.
History

The band was formed after the dissolution of the pop-punk group Subvision, whose only full-length album So Far So Noir was released in 2006. Tobias Forge, Martin Persner and Simon Söderberg were among the original members of MCC, and all three would later go on to perform in Forge's band Ghost.

Magna Carta Cartel released their album Goodmorning Restrained in 2009. To this day, it remains their only full-length album. In 2017, however, Persner reformed the group after leaving Ghost and released a new EP titled The Demon King. The EP spawned two new digital singles, “Sway” and “The Demon King.”
Musical style and influences

While Magna Carta Cartel and Ghost differ in many ways, the former's influence is not difficult to hear in the latter's early albums. Both groups rely on guitar-oriented melodic music; rhythm guitar is fairly prominent and the basslines, while usually simple, are harmonic in quality, complimenting the guitars.

Magna Carta Cartel differs though, in the genres they play. Their music is mainly a mixture of post-rock, psychedelic rock and more melodic indie rock with some progressive and pop influences.
