Electronic hardcore

Electronic hardcore, usually shortened to electronicore (less popularly referred to as electrocore or synthcore) is a term used to describe a fusion genre of music that incorporates elements of electronic music into post-hardcore, screamo, and occasionally metalcore.
History
In the mid to late 2000s, bands formed that mix elements of post-hardcore "with a hybrid style drawing from both screamo and electronica." 's debut album, Someday Came Suddenly, set a precedent for newer bands of this style. The album's first single, "Stick Stickly," was released on June 4, 2009. The song was also released as downloadable content for Rock Band 2 via the Rock Band Network in March 2010. Sky Eats Airplane is a metalcore group that likewise "incorporates touches of electronica."
Breathe Carolina, an electronica duet, have produced two studio albums in this genre. The group's sophomore album, Hello Fascination, peaked at #43 on the US Billboard 200, and the lead single and title track, "Hello Fascination," received extensive radio-play.
I See Stars furthered the style with their debut album, 3-D. The band has been recognized as one of the primary contributors to this fusion genre. One reviewer states:
Enter Shikari, an English post-hardcore band that formed in 2003, radically popularized this style. Their debut album, Take to the Skies, was released on March 19, 2007 and reached #4 in the Official UK Album Chart. Their second album, titled Common Dreads, was released on June 15, 2009 and debuted on the UK Albums Chart at #16.
The debut album's lead single, "Anything Can Happen in the Next Half Hour," reached #1 on the UK indie chart. This is evidence of a growing appreciation for the fusion of electronic music and post-hardcore.
Characteristics
Electronicore is known for "mixing... metalcore drums with electro beats, dissonant guitar chords with infectious leads, and poppy synths." Electronicore groups have introduced the use of synthesizers and keyboard instruments into metalcore and post-hardcore music. In this fusion style of music, it is not unusual to hear a "heavy shout ring out in the middle of a collection of technical guitars and pummeling drums."
These "newer hardcore/electronica hybrid bands" often play songs that contain "dancable beats, with some breakdowns splashed in." Auto-tuned singing vocals and synthesized screaming vocals are also attributes of this style.
