Mad Orchid

Mad Orchid is an Indie Alternative Rock / Hard Rock band formed in Connecticut in 2008. The band consists of Mike Ostuni (lead vocals, guitar), Joe Bastura (lead guitar, vocals), Kyle Berardinelli (bass, vocals), and Tony Dilonardo (drums).

Biography
Beginnings
Mike Ostuni was drumming for the signed band Craving Lucy in 2007 when the idea for Mad Orchid was born. Ostuni, being an avid songwriter and singer, began to compile works-in-progress. He began looking for other musicians who were "inspired by the same vein of music as he was writing."

Getting Serious
Ostuni contacted his friend, Kyle Berardinelli, who had worked with him on many other projects before. Berardinelli, having studied music at the University of Hartford, was a great addition and was on board after one session. They began playing as a duo while searching for more musicians.

Making the Duo a Trio
Months of searching led to nothing. Finally, a friend of Mike's told them that a good drummer had played with a band called The Givin. However, noone knew how to contact him and The Givin's website was severely out-of-date. The next morning, an email from Tony Dilonardo came for Mike regarding an ad on Craigslist for a drummer. Mike and Kyle were surprised and almost scared to find that Tony was The Givin's drummer. After a few sessions, Tony joined the group.

Finding the Last Piece of the Puzzle
In early 2008, the trio was writing and rehearsing, but they felt that they needed a fourth piece to the band. That piece turned out to be Joe Bastura, a Berklee College of Music grad. Joe, having recently been in Pushboxx, found an ad on Bandmix.com. The group talked on the phone, met, and before anyone knew it, Mad Orchid was formed.

Today
Mad Orchid is currently at Five Below Studios recording their new EP while also performing shows for major charities and benefits, such as LiveStrong and Operation First Response. They are unsigned.

Mad Orchid has a wide range of influences, including the Deftones, Nine Inch Nails, 30 Seconds to Mars, Big Wreck, Breaking Benjamin, and more.
