Third Place Victory are a 5 piece pop punk/emo band from Thanet, Kent in the United Kingdom. The band started life as a three piece band, formed in 2005 by guitarist Adam Hearn and bassist James Pearce. Under the name kAREN they played local shows to packed out audiences. After a good few years in this format, the drummer left, leaving the position open for Mike Lloyd to step in on drumming duties. It was also around this time that they decided to gain a second guitarist and change the band's name to Third Place Victory. With James Pearce on lead vocals, they played a few shows locally, mainly cover songs. The second guitarist left after just a few months of being in the band, prompting Mike Lloyd to move onto lead guitar and lead vocals for live shows. Matt Verrell, a drummer who had been friends with all 3 remaining band members applied to drum for Third Place Victory after liking the music they made. The formula was there, and the new 4 piece took to playing shows once again. After just two months of being in this line-up they recorded a two track demo, the first installment of their now 5 track EP. As soon as it was released the band realised they were onto a good thing. With an ever growing army of fans taking an interest in the music they decided to see how far they could push the band. Mike found it harder and harder to play and sing, and after the demo CD the band all decided a seperate second guitarist would be the best idea so he could focus soley on vocals. Charlie Turner, a guitarist in Mike's previous band Challenge The Chess Club agreed to be in the band and the final lin-up of Third Place Victory was complete.
