Machocore

Machocore (meaning hardcore of straight men) -machokore, machoxcore- is a musical genre very popular in South America consisting of a mix between metalcore, rapcore, and old school hardcore, that is similar to Tribial Thrash. There is a lot types of machocore, many of which are fused with punk rock, crossover or nu metal.

The main characteristic of this genre is a rusty and rough voice and shocking lyrics about everyday life (such as politics, poverty, discrimination, etc.)
Machocore defends South American culture and Native American blood. Machocore fans are unlikely to accept emo, pop punk or screamo as real hardcore genres, and they have a violent attitude towards them. "You'd better die if you don't like violence" is often said by vocalists at concerts.

Machocore is a new genre dating from the new millennium, though there are influences from the 1980s and onward. One of the oldest bands that can be categorised as such is A.N.I.M.A.L. (1993)
While there are a lot of new machocore bands, others such as Soulfly and Sepultura have altered their style into a "machocoreish one" on their last albums.

Machocore's festivals and concerts are carried on with bands of different styles, such as Nu Metal, Punk Rock, Heavy Metal, and Hip Hop. Machocore events are popular in Brazil, Argentina, and Chile.
