Eurovision 2007

Breslin came to national attention in May 2007 when he threatened to strip naked to present his show on Monday May 14, if Ireland's Eurovision entry Dervish managed to win the 2007 edition of the competition held in Helsinki the previous Saturday. Such was his confidence, he expected the entry to fail to leave a mark. Said he on The Breakfast Show the week before: "I'm convinced I'll be keeping my clothes on. They have no hope of winning." He went on to say: "Ireland has a proud record in Eurovision but in recent years we have been getting it all wrong." He continued his rant by declaring: "We've got it wrong yet again." In an open act of defiance, he then declared: "If I'm wrong I will have no hesitation stripping off." However, John (and his listeners) need not have feared for Dervish finished in last place in the contest.
