Loren Weisman

Loren Weisman (born July 3rd, 1974) is a music producer based in Seattle, Washington. Having worked on over three hundred albums, Loren has also worked on television, film, video game and radio productions across the USA and around the world.Loren is also the founder of Brain Grenade Entertainment LLC, and the author of the Freedom Solutions Recording Plan.
Early Life as a drummer/musician
Loren began drumming in his early years of high school, experimenting with modern, classical, and experimental styles. Gaining influence from such drummers as Max Roach, Steve Gadd, Vinnie Colaiuta, Zigaboo, Modiliste, Jeff Porcaro, Elvin Jones, Harvey Mason, Roy Haynes, Ed Thigpen, Omar Hakim, Richie Hayward; Loren began to view drumming as more than just a hobby.
Weisman studied under many professional drummers such as Gary Chaffee, Dave Weigert, Ed Kaspick, Casey Scheuerell, Jim Chapin and Jim Black.
Loren then began his career on the east coast, working as a session player and touring drummer. He also taught and gave numerous drum clinics. He taught privately for some time as well as being a visiting clinician and teacher at various summer music programs such as The Institute for the Musical Arts and other non-profit schools and programs.
Later, Weisman tried his hand at producing. After years of working with artists ranging across a diverse spectrum of genres, Weisman began mixing industry standard recording methods with an independent approach.
As he began to produce more he became more and more inspired by the structures of classic Motown. Loren lays out the foundation and the initial details of every recording in advance to achieve the most complete, creative and professional sounding album possible. From preproduction to budget planning, recording to post production, and all the creativity and design in between, Loren works together with the artist every step of the way to optimize every element of the project. He further distinguishes himself from many other producers by not taking royalties, percentages or production points. This leaves the artist in total control of their product with the most avenues for success and sustainability.
Brain Grenade Entertainment
Loren is the founder and advisory board chair of Brain Grenade Entertainment (BGE), a company for the independent musician, specializing in production, promotion, marketing and branding.
A key component that Weisman created as part of BGE is The Freedom Solutions Recording Plan (FSRP). His plan presents a detailed “project blueprint” for the artist or band to produce and release a recording by explaining and itemizing everything needed from business plan and pre-production fundraising through recording, promotion, and final release.
Weisman has worked with, produced and applied the FSRP plan to independent artist such as Jeremiah, Das Vibenbass, Erica Vanalee, Stretching Madness, Tamara Lewis, Kore Ionz, Rebekah Ann Curtis. While many of the artists follow the early stages and the recording parts of the FSRP plan, many artists do not follow through the back side of the plan into release and promotion aspects. For some groups it is often problematic since the artists have to do the work themselves and are not yet with a label or management group.
Artists currently in preproduction and fundraising for the FSRP include jazz artist John Dover, Fusion, Soul and World Rhythms Artist Cherie Seymore, Singer/Songwriter Joshua Rosen and flutist Marie Buckner.
