London Ethnic is an fashion retailer based in London featuring ethical fashions and accessories from London designers. They supports ethical and sustainable fashion from designers who are conscious of their carbon footprint on the planet. Their designers such as RKD Rubber (who create raincoats made using the sap of uncut rubber trees) say they are trying to incorporate sustainable practices into modern clothing. Company history The company has been around since the late 2000s, described London Ethnic as an “upstart little London fashion house who mistakenly think the world is ready for eco-fashion” (May 2012) but others in the fashion press have been more kind. Elle (Feb 2012) described them as “the most exciting new London retail brand of 2012”. Notability London Ethnic have become extremely notable in the mainstream media. One of their designers, Nova Chiu, as well as having a catwalk show at London Fashion Week 2012, seen here, has featured within the pages of The Independent, where her work was described as the 'future style of London' Charini, an ethical lingerie designer from Sri Lanka , has been interviewed by the BBC about her ethical take on her creations. She said 'I personally see a massive change in the industry in Sri Lanka. At one point Sri Lanka was only a manufacturing destination, but I see a lot of fashion schools and universities coming up and also I see most of the companies having a design section.'. Grazia Magazine have described another of London Ethnic's brands, Anna Lee, as an 'up and coming fashion talent'
