London Buses route 79 is a Transport for London contracted bus route in London, United Kingdom. The service is currently contracted to First Centrewest. History The current route 79 was London bus route 79A renumbered, and runs from Alperton to Edgware. It was first operated by London Buslines. Route 79, like route 95, had allocation problems. Firstly, it was allocated to London Buslines, then the route was transferred to MTL London at the North Acton garage, a school route was created for schooldays from Kingsbury to Alperton contracted to Centrewest at the Alperton garage. MTL London merged with Metroline and the North Acton garage was closed and the route was transferred to North Wembley garage. It was later transferred to First Centrewest. In 2003, brand new Wright Eclipse Geminis were ordered and used for the route. Plaxton Presidents and East Lancs Vykings were also used. In 2009, the East Lancs Vykings were withdrawn.
