Living History of Illinois and Chicago

Living History of Illinois and Chicago is a history group that seeks to discover and document interesting and factual stories of Illinois via photographs and documents whether new or historical. The owner of the Chicago Postcard Museum is the groups founder. The group presents many overlooked historical elements of Illinois’ history to a public audience and is free to join. Many new and forgotten discoveries have been presented by this group numbering over 10,000 members since its inception on October 31, 2012.
Some discoveries have been responsible for setting history straight; such as the urban myth of Pabst Brewing Company winning the Blue Ribbon for their beer at the World’s Columbian Exposition of 1893 in Chicago, Illinois. and Was the Battleship Illinois at the 1893 Worlds Columbian Exposition in Chicago a mockup? The LakeView Historical Chronicles: Township to Neighborhood of Chicago has published some of the photos from this group.
In addition to conducting research and publishing articles in their group, Living History of Illinois and Chicago offers a free daily digital newspaper, the Living History of Illinois Gazette. We are also building our community in Google The group's physical location is in Belleville, Illinois.
Members include dozens of Illinois community, township and County Historical Societies, History Museum Directors and career Historians and many subject related experts. Many members are in public service with a lot of Mayors' from towns and cities all over Illinois. In addition the group is loaded with local media broadcasters, including news anchors from networks like NBC, ABC, CBS and others, plus local radio personalities from around the state. Members also include professional Illinois photographers sharing their own work.
