LitMinds

LitMinds.org is an online community where readers, authors, and independent booksellers can share their unique reading interests, make new friends, and enjoy stimulating conversations. LitMinds is a commercial free service that has been designed as an online literary salon where people who love books can come together to celebrate their love for books and enrich their reading experience.

LitMinds was started in March 2007 by social entrepreneurs Carrie Evans, Christin Evans, and Praveen Madan. The same team is also working on another venture to create the independent bookstore for the 21st Century at Booksmith bookstore in San Francisco, California.

LitMinds publishes regular interviews with Literary Innovators to highlight individuals who are doing unique and innovative work in the literary field that spreads the love of books and independent media. In this interview series LitMinds has interviewed literary bloggers, authors, independent booksellers, independent publishers, literary festival organizers, and literary entrepreneurs. Some of the notable LitMinds interviews have been with:
- Mark Sarvas, A Top Literary Blogger at The Elegant Variation
- Masha Hamilton, Author of The Camel Bookmobile and Organizer of a Camel Borne Library in Kenya's isolated Northeastern province
- Larry Portzline, Founder of Independent Bookstore Tourism
- Edwin Frank, Editorial Director of NYRB Classics

LitMinds is currently developing pro-bono partnerships with schools and universities to help create a culture of reading on campuses. Students and teachers from San Jose State University and the Los Angeles School for Global Studies are using LitMinds as their literary salon.
